Juan Antonio Serrano’s Expertise For the last few years, Juan Antonio Serrano has been the CDTI Chief Representative in the US. In this position, he primarily supports the activities of the CDTI International Directorate, by promoting and inducing mission-oriented R&D collaboration, between different stakeholders in Spain and in the US, as well as catalyzing and facilitating the commercialization of these transatlantic joint initiatives. Before his landing in the US, he was the Head of the Department responsible for CDTI´s overseas network and for its bilateral technology Agreements with third countries; and a National Representative for the European Union Research and Development Framework Program. Juan Antonio Serrano holds an MOE: (Agro-Biochemical) Industrial Master of Engineering for the Polytechnic University of Madrid; and a MBA: Master in Business Administration for the Spanish Secretary of Trade. Awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he also holds a post-graduate-training degree in European Institutions and Policies, and by the Polytechnic University, one in Environmental Auditing and Evaluation Management System. More recently he´s been attending International training courses at the Georgetown University here in Washington DC. After College, he has collected an long experience, working with different responsibilities both in private and government-owned corporations, dealing with different aspects of the innovation system, research, development and technology transfer. CDTI, the Spanish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, is the main public funding Organization for R&D and Innovation in Spain. Key elements of CDTI´s success are: entrepreneurship, technology development projects, private-public partnerships, and international collaboration (open innovation). In the US we are focused on research collaboration and partnership. Juan A is also an amateur acrylic painter.
